The Aperture Scavenger is a history-based, family led photo scavenger hunt & community building event that gets young people and their families out and about exploring the rich history of their neighborhoods through the lens of a camera. Held in different communities throughout the year, the format of The Aperture Scavenger is one in which participants are given a list of visual and written clues directing them to various historical and notable locations around their community. These clues include factual tidbits as wells as historical photos providing them the opportunity to learn about and connect with their community in a fun, engaging and creative way. Finally, the program culminates in public exhibitions at local businesses, galleries or museums in which participants could potentially earn money for their work.
